KISMET, FATE, WHATEVER YOU LIKE TO CALL IT PARADOX If the visions displayed on a super computer come from a non-human source this series could be going right to the heart of the matter as to whether the future can be changed. Is Tamzin Outhwaite playing a Detective Inspector supported by a deceptive astrophysicist played by Emun Elliott going to be successful in altering the course of kismet in the next four episodes so that the enigma will be solved? The first episode seems to indicate that she is doomed to fail as a prediction of a train disaster comes true despite the frantic efforts taken to stop it. I wonder whether the future episodes will concentrate on the metaphysical issues involved in trying to change fate. There may be more guidance on this from the second episode which deals with another race against time to save a boy from drowning and D.S. Ben Holt played by Mark Bonar from being killed. In the last scene Ben was found sitting in Tamzin’s flat having used a spare key for the first time. Tamzin arrived, gulped a drink and while she took her coat off threw herself on him in an amorous embrace. Meanwhile the astrophysicist put his coat on and left his office after an exciting day’s work. The acting and the action scenes were entertaining and the next episode is worth a look.
